A Spirit Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration N623NK performing flight NK-348 from Tampa,FL to Atlantic City,NJ (USA), was climbing out of Tampa when the aircraft received a lightning strike causing a loud bang and flash of light in the cabin. The crew levelled off at 17000 feet, worked the checklists and consulted with dispatch before deciding to divert to Fort Lauderdale,FL (USA) for a safe landing about one hour after departure.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration N622NK reached Atlantic City with a delay of 5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 22 hours after landing.
