An Aer Lingus Airbus A319-100, registration EI-EPR performing flight EI-386 from Shannon (Ireland) to London Heathrow,EN (UK), was on final approach to Heathrow's runway 09L already descending on the glideslope at about 19:00L (19:00Z) when the crew declared PAN PAN PAN reporting an engine (CFM56) problem advising they might not be able to vacate the runway, about 20 seconds later the crew reported an actual engine failure and shut down. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on runway 09L, the next approach trailing the A319 by about 3nm was instructed to go around. The A319 was able to vacate the runway following inspection by emergency services.

The approach instructed to go around landed on runway 09L about 15 minutes later.

At the time of the approach there were no reports of birds in the vicinity of the aerodrome.

The occurrence aircraft resumed service on Nov 23rd about 40 hours after landing.
