A British Airways Boeing 777-200, registration G-VIIS performing flight BA-48 (dep Nov 22nd) from Seattle,WA (USA) to London Heathrow,EN (UK) with 220 people on board, was enroute at FL350 about 120nm north of Shannon (Ireland) when the crew declared PAN PAN PAN, requested a descent to below FL270 and a diversion to Shannon. The crew subsequently reported the right hand engine (GE90) had been shut down due to an oil leak. The aircraft landed safely on Shannon's runway 24 about 30 minutes after the PAN call, vacated the runway and stopped on an adjacent taxiway for inspection by emergency services.
