A Jet2.com Boeing 737-800, registration G-GDFY performing flight LS-155 from Glasgow,SC (UK) to Tenerife Sur Sofia Reina,CI (Spain) with 197 people on board, was enroute at FL350 over the Atlantic Ocean about 80nm north of Funchal (Portugal) when the crew declared emergency reporting an engine (CFM56) failure. The crew secured the engine, descended the aircraft to FL250 and continued to Tenerife, where the aircraft landed safely about 75 minutes later.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Tenerife for about 52 hours before resuming service.

The airline reported the engine shut down was in response to an engine oil pressure problem.
