A Sriwijaya Boeing 737-300, registration PK-CKJ performing flight SJ-585 from Manokwari to Makassar/Ujung Pandang (Indonesia) with 147 passengers and 6 crew, landed on Ujung Pandang's runway 21 at 13:22L (05:22Z) but burst both right hand main tyres and became disabled on the runway. The passengers disembarked onto the runway.

The aircraft was subsequently towed to the apron. Makassar's longest runway (length 3,100 meters/11,170 feet) was closed for about 2.5 hours, operations continued on crossing runway 13/31 (length 2,500 meters/8,200 feet).
