A Mistral Air Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A on behalf of Alitalia, registration OY-CRV performing flight AZ-1701 from Naples to Trieste (Italy), had departed Naples' runway 24 followed by a Falcon 7X business jet, both aircraft were cleared to climb to the same flight level resulting in a loss of separation and TCAS resolution advisories. After being clear of conflict both aircraft continued to their destinations for safe landings.

Italy's ANSV reported on Sep 10th 2014 that they had been collecting evidence to determine the correct classification of the occurrence and have then opened an investigation into the serious incident establishing that both aircraft had been cleared to the same flight level resulting in the required minimum separation being eroded.

On Sep 24th 2014 the French BEA reported in their weekly bulletin, that due to "non effective air traffic control action" a "severe reduction of separation" occurred about 13nm northwest of the aerodrome resulting in TCAS resolution advisories. Italy's ANSV is investigating the occurrence rated a serious incident.
