A Kulula Boeing 737-800, registration ZS-ZWC performing flight MN-111 from Johannesburg to Cape Town (South Africa), was climbing out of Johannesburg's runway 03L when an engine (CFM56) ingested a number of birds. The crew stopped the climb at 7500 feet MSL (about 2000 feet AGL) and returned to Johannesburg for a safe landing on runway 03L about 15 minutes after departure.

A replacement flight is estimated to depart Johannesburg with a delay of 7 hours.
