An Egypt Air Airbus A320-200, registration SU-GBC performing flight MS-859 from Cairo (Egypt) to Juba (South Sudan) with 76 passengers, was on approach to Juba when the aircraft flew through hail causing a cracked windshield and damage to the nose cone. The aircraft continued for a safe landing at 15:00L (12:00Z).

The return flight MS-860 was postponed to the next day.

Passengers waiting for the return flight reported they were told the aircraft received a bird strike, which caused a crack in the windshield, the crew did not deem safe to fly the aircraft. The passengers were taken to hotels and have been advised a replacement flight would be available the following day departing Juba with a delay of 22.5 hours.

On Sep 9th 2014 The Aviation Herald learned that the aircraft flew through hail on approach to Juba resulting in both windshield cracked and damage to the nose cone.
