A Norwegian Air Shuttle Boeing 737-800, registration LN-NON performing flight DY-5505 from Alicante,SP (Spain) to Oslo Sandefjord (Norway), was climbing out of Alicante's runway 10 when the crew declared emergency reporting an engine fire indication for the right hand engine (CFM56) and levelled off at FL100. The crew shut the engine down, activated the fire suppression system and returned to Alicante, on final approach to runway 10 the crew advised the engine fire indication had ceased. The aircraft landed safely on Alicante's runway 10, emergency services checked the aircraft before it taxied to the apron with emergency services in trail.

A listener on frequency reported the aircraft had departed runway 10 when the crew reported a right hand engine fire indication, levelled off at FL100, shut the engine down and returned for a landing on runway 10 advising on final approach that the fire was out. After roll out the crew cancelled the emergency, the aircraft was escorted by fire trucks while it taxied to a remote stand where passengers disembarked normally.
