A Sri Lankan Airlines Airbus A330-200, registration 4R-ALD performing flight UL-314 from Colombo (Sri Lanka) to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) with 296 people on board, was enroute at FL370 about 110nm east of Colombo when the crew decided to return to Colombo due to hydraulic problems. The aircraft landed safely back in Colombo about 45 minutes after departure.

A replacement Airbus A340-300 registration 4R-ADC reached Kuala Lumpur with a delay of 7.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft was able to resume service after about 10 hours on the ground.
