A China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration B-5589 performing flight MU-2528 (scheduled departure Jul 8th, actual dep Jul 9th) from Sanya to Wuhan (China), was on final approach to Wuhan when upon contacting tower there was no reply forcing the crew to go around. About 12 minutes later the crew finally received a reply from Wuhan's tower and was able to land safely.

China's Civil Aviation Authority reported on Aug 19th 2014, that both tower controllers at Wuhan were asleep at about 02:30L (Jul 8th 18:30Z) and were raised by a number of phone calls to tower. The aircraft was able to land 12 minutes later.
