A Qatar Airways Boeing 787-800, registration A7-BCG performing flight QR-159 from Doha (Qatar) to Copenhagen (Denmark), was enroute at FL400 about 115nm north of Ankara (Turkey) when the crew decided to divert to Ankara due to decreasing engine oil quantity of the left hand engine (GEnx), but advised they were about to perform a normal landing with all other engine indications remaining normal. The aircraft landed safely on Ankara's runway 03L about 30 minutes later.

A replacement Boeing 787-800 registration A7-BCN was dispatched to Ankara and reached Copenhagen with a delay of 9 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Ankara 57 hours after landing.

Maintenance found the aircraft landed with just sufficient oil to sustain normal engine operation, the rest had been leaked through a fitting attached to the gear box, requiring repairs by the engine manufacturer.
