A TACV Boeing 757-200, registration D4-CBP performing flight VR-665 from Fortaleza,CE (Brazil) to Praia (Cabo Verde) with 155 people on board, was enroute over the Atlantic Ocean when the crew received indication of a left hydraulic failure and decided to divert to Sal (Cabo Verde) due to the longer runway available. The aircraft landed safely on Sal's runway 01.

Maintenance identified a leak of hydraulic fluid at the flaps/slats depressurization module.
