A Westjet Boeing 737-800, registration C-GKWA performing flight WS-585 from Hamilton,ON to Calgary,AB (Canada) with 152 people on board, was climbing out of Hamilton when the crew stopped the climb at 6000 feet after the right hand engine's (CFM56) oil bypass light illuminated. The crew worked the related checklists, shut the engine down and diverted to Toronto,ON for a safe landing on runway 05 about 50 minutes after departure.

The remainder of the flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
