An AirTran Boeing 737-700, registration N299AT performing flight FL-1879 from Atlanta,GA to Orlando,FL (USA) with 138 people on board, was enroute at FL390 about 130nm northwest of Jacksonville,FL (USA) when the crew decided to divert to Jacksonville due to male passenger, who had voiced a threat and subsequently locked himself into a lavatory refusing to come out again. While on approach to Jacksonville the passenger finally left the lavatory and complied with crew instructions again. The aircraft landed safely on Jacksonville's runway 08 about 30 minutes after leaving FL390. Police took the unruly passenger into custody.

A subsequent search of the aircraft did not bring up any trace of explosives.

The aircraft reached Orlando with a delay of 3 hours.
