A Delta Airlines Boeing 747-400, registration N668US performing flight DL-469 from Tel Aviv (Israel) to New York JFK,NY (USA) with 370 passengers and 17 crew, was climbing out of Ben Gurion Airport's runway 08 when the crew could not fully retract the flaps and stopped the climb at FL120. The aircraft descended to FL100, entered a hold above the Mediterranean Sea, dumped fuel and returned to Tel Aviv for a safe landing on runway 26 about 2 hours after departure.

The airline reported the crew returned to Tel Aviv out of abundance of caution.

Passengers reported they have been advised to expect to travel the New York the following day with about 20 hours delay.
