A Jet2.com Boeing 737-300, registration G-CELH performing flight LS-597 from Newcastle,EN (UK) to Faro (Portugal), had departed Newcastle when the transponder did not show any altitude information. The crew stopped the climb due to problems with the cabin pressure and returned to Newcastle for a safe landing on runway 25 about 50 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-300 registration G-GDFO reached Faro with a delay of 4.5 hours.

The incident aircraft remained on the ground for about 9 hours.

The airline reported the aircraft returned due to a minor technical issue.

Passengers reported the aircraft did not pressurize.
