An Air Atlanta Icelandic Boeing 747-200, registration TF-ARJ performing freight flight CC-627 from Luxembourg (Luxembourg) to Luanda (Angola), was enroute at FL290 about 50nm southsouthwest of Turin (Italy) when the crew reported an engine (RB211) failure and resulting engine shut down. The crew descended the aircraft to FL210, dumped fuel and decided to return to Luxembourg where the aircraft landed safely on runway 06 about 80 minutes later.

Adhering to an instruction by Switzerland's Civil Aviation Authority BAZL Switzerland's air traffic control service provider Skyguide reported the aircraft dumped 53 tons of fuel in the border region between Italy and Switzerland.
