A Easyjet Airbus A320-200, registration G-EZUN performing positioning flight U2-9021 from Tenerife Norte Los Rodeos,CI to Tenerife Sur Sofia Reina,CI (Spain), aborted the approach to Tenerife's South Airport twice due to unfavourable weather conditions and subsequently diverted back to Tenerife's North Airport. When the aircraft could not land at North Airport and needed to go around, the crew declared emergency reporting being low on fuel, positioned for another approach and landed safely.

The French BEA reported in their weekly bulletin that Spain's CIAIAC rated the occurrence a serious incident (indicating the aircraft probably landed below required final fuel reserve) and opened an investigation. The BEA quoted the CIAIAC: "Flight EZY9021 performed two go arounds at GCTS due to adverse meteorological conditions. Then it was diverted to GCXO. There it was unable to land the first time and thus declared short of fuel emergency, landing afterwards without further notice."

G-EZUN had performed flight U2-6949 from Edinburgh,SC (UK) to Tenerife Sur Sofia Reina but had gone around and diverted to Tenerife's Los Rodeos Airport due to weather conditions. The passengers disembarked at Tenerife North Airport and were bussed to the South Airport. The aircraft subsequently attempted to position to South Airport to pick up the passengers for the return flight but ran into the reported serious incident.

The aircraft subsequently managed to position to Sur Airport and performed the return flight U2-6950 reaching Edinburgh with a delay of 2 hours.

Spain's CIAIAC never listed the occurrence in their list of incidents, the occurrence however on May 28th 2019 was mentioned in the final report of another fuel emergency at Tenerife South and North Airports, see Incident: Easyjet A320 at Tenerife on Jun 2nd 2014, fuel emergency. The brief mention in the other final report suggests G-EZUN landed with more than the required minimum fuel.
