A Swiss Airbus A320-200, registration HB-IJO performing flight LX-737 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Zurich (Switzerland) with 71 passengers and 6 crew, was climbing out of Amsterdam, when the crew stopped the climb at FL215 due to an engine oil leak at the left hand engine (CFM56) and shut the engine down. The aircraft returned to Amsterdam for a safe landing on runway 27 about 30 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.

The airline confirmed unsual problems with an engine, the exact cause of the problem is being investigated.
