The occurrence prompted the authorities of Nigeria to suspend the air operators certificate (AOC) of Dana Air another time in the wake of the crash at Lagos, see Crash: Dana MD83 at Lagos on Jun 3rd 2012, collided with power line on approach following dual engine failure. Following the suspension in October 2013 the airline was able to resume operation in January 2014.
The Nigerian AIB reported in their second preliminary report into the crash, that the occurrence of Oct 6th 2013 had been very similiar to the events leading to the crash of 5N-RAM. Engine tear downs with the focus on the engines' fuel systems are under way. The AIB wrote: "AIB is currently investigating in-depth systematic and safety issues associated with this second incident vis-à-vis, the crashed sister ship, 5N-RAM. The safety actions adopted by the operator to redress the findings are being monitored and analyzed."
