A China Southern Airbus A321-200, registration B-6319 performing flight CZ-318 from Manila (Philippines) to Xiamen (China) with 152 people on board, was on approach to Xiamen when the crew reported the failure of the nose gear steering and requested to be towed off the runway prompting a massive emergency response involving about 230 emergency personnel. The aircraft performed a straight approach and normal landing on Xiamen's runway, stopped on the runway and was towed off the runway.

Following repairs the aircraft was able to continue the flight from Xiamen to Beijing, the ultimate destination of the flight, and reached Beijing with a delay of 3 hours.
