A Delta Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-88, registration N909DE performing flight DL-2591 from Tampa,FL to Cincinnati,KY (USA) with 78 people on board, was enroute at FL320 about 70nm southeast of Tallahassee,FL when the right hand engine (JT8D) rolled back uncommandedly prompting the crew to drift the aircraft down to FL260 and after working checklists to take the decision to divert to Tallahasse when the aircraft was about 50nm northeast of Tallahassee. The crew advised approach that the engine had rolled back, but had not been shut down and was still running. The aircraft landed on Tallahassee's runway 18 about 25 minutes after leaving FL320.

Following repairs the aircraft was able to continue the flight and reached Cincinnati's Northern Kentucky Airport with a delay of 4 hours.
