An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N907AN performing flight AA-1487 from Chicago O'Hare,IL to Reno,NV (USA) with 120 passengers and 6 crew, was enroute at FL360 about 155nm west of Chicago when the crew detected a fuel imbalance and decided to return to Chicago. The aircraft landed safely on O'Hare's runway 28 with emergency services on stand by.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto the next flight.

The airline reported the crew received indication of a fuel feed problem.
