A CAA Compagnie Africaine Aviation Airbus A320-200, registration 9Q-CCO performing flight BU-7366 from Kinshasa to Mbandaka (Democratic Republic Congo), was climbing out of Kinshasa when the left hand engine (CFM56) ingested a bird prompting the crew to return to Kinshasa for a safe landing.

A number of delegates to the congress of Congo's People's Party on board of the aircraft, including the governour of Katanga, reported that their flight the previous day had attempted to depart two times but was cancelled, they were trying to get to the congress the following day however the aircraft needed to return due to the bird strike causing the governour and delegates to miss the congress.

The French BEA reported in their weekly bulletin, that the Accident Investigation Board of the Democratic Republic of Congo is investigating the occurrence rated an incident. A bird had been ingested into the left hand engine of 9Q-CCO at Kinshasa.
