A China Eastern Airbus A320-200, flight MU-5666 from Xiamen to Shanghai Hongqiao (China), was climbing through about 5000 feet out of Xiamen when a bird impacted the first officer's windshield causing the windshield to crack. The crew declared emergency and returned to Xiamen for a safe landing. There were no injuries.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto later flights.

The windshield needed to be replaced.
