A Condor Boeing 767-300, registration D-ABUA performing flight DE-2262 from Vienna (Austria) to Mombasa (Kenya) with 202 passengers and 9 crew, was climbing out of Vienna about 65nm southwest of Budapest (Hungary) when the crew requested to stop their climb at FL330 and divert to Budapest, they would check weather first. The crew declined any waypoint navigation but requested radar vectors accepting headings only, then requested a descent to FL160. While descending towards Budapest the crew requested to divert to Vienna and again requested vectors, not accepting any VOR or FMS waypoint assignments. The crew finally reported they had electrical problems and needed the emergency services upon arrival in Vienna. Budapest Center advised to expect runway 29 in Vienna, emergency services would stand by. The aircraft landed safely but overweight on Vienna's runway 29 about 25 minutes after requesting to stop the climb, emergency services checked the brakes upon arrival before the aircraft proceeded to the apron.

The airline reported that the crew received a message concerning one of the generators on board and decided, as a precaution, to divert to Vienna, where the aircraft landed overweight, emergency services were on stand by as a precaution because of the overweight landing. The passengers were taken to hotels. The aircraft was examined and was scheduled to depart again on Apr 2nd at noon.

The incident aircraft departed Vienna for flight DE-2262 again the following day at noon with a delay of 16 hours.
