An Air Baltic Boeing 737-500, registration YL-BBN performing flight BT-443 from St. Petersburg (Russia) to Riga (Latvia) with 75 passengers and 5 crew, was on approach to Riga's runway 18 when the crew aborted the approach reporting problems with the landing gear. The crew subsequently requested observers on the ground monitoring whether the right hand main landing gear was in position or not and conducted a low approach to runway 18. After the low overflight tower reported all gear appeared down. The crew requested a long approach. The aircraft positioned for another approach to runway 18 and landed safely about 55 minutes after aborting the first approach and 30 minutes after the low approach and vacated the runway.
