A Delta Airlines Boeing 747-400, registration N664US performing flight DL-159 from Detroit,MI (USA) to Seoul (South Korea), was enroute at FL320 about 190nm southeast of Resolute Bay,NU (Canada) when the crew reported they had an engine shut down and were not able to maintain FL320. The aircraft descended to FL280, dumped fuel and diverted to Minneapolis,MN (USA). The crew advised they did not declare emergency and did not need emergency services on stand by, they requested runway 22 however. The aircraft landed safely on Minneapolis' runway 22 about 4 hours later.

A replacement Boeing 747-400 registration N666US positioned from Detroit to Minneapolis and resumed the flight as DL-159A. The aircraft reached Seoul with a delay of 22 hours.

On Jan 22nd 2014 the Canadian TSB reported the crew shut the #3 engine (inboard right hand) down after the oil temperature indications rose above limits and the oil pressure indication dropped to zero.
