A US Airways Airbus A319-100, registration N834AW performing flight US-530 from Phoenix,AZ (USA) to Edmonton,AB (Canada) with 128 people on board, was on approach to Edmonton when the crew stopped the descent at 5000 feet reporting problems with the flaps. The aircraft entered a hold, the crew worked the checklists without success and advised they needed to land with flaps retracted but did not declare emergency. The aircraft landed safely on runway 30 at a higher than normal speed about 30 minutes after aborting the first approach.

The Canadian TSB reported the slat/flap control computer #1 was identified faulty and was replaced by maintenance.
