HOP CRJ7 near Milan on Dec 15th 2013, problems with flight controls

A HOP Air (former Brit Air) Canadair CRJ-700 on behalf of Air France, registration F-GRZE performing flight DB-4526/AF-5337 from Lyon (France) to Venice (Italy), was enroute near Milan (Italy) when the crew declared emergency reporting problems with the flight controls. The aircraft diverted to Milan's Malpensa Airport for a safe landing.

The remainder of the flight was cancelled.

Air France reported the route of the flight was changed due to technical audits.

On Dec 17th 2013 Italy's ANSV reported the occurrence had been rated a serious incident and an investigation was opened. The crew reported the malfunction of the flight controls while enroute near Milan Malpensa, the causes are to be determined.

On Dec 23rd 2013 the French BEA reported in their weekly bulletin quoting Italian ANSV, that the aircraft was enroute at FL310 and Mach 0.75 when the aircraft experienced a roll and yaw trim malfunction. The crew attempted to correct the problem without success, declared emergency and diverted to Malpensa.
