A Qantas Boeing 737-800, registration VH-XZH performing flight QF-1091 from Newman,WA to Perth,WA (Australia) with 92 passengers, was enroute at FL300 about 140nm southsouthwest of Newman when the crew reported the inner pane of the windshield had cracked and initiated a descent to 10,000 feet reaching 10,000 feet about 12 minutes later. The aircraft returned to Newman for a safe landing about 30 minutes after leaving FL300.

The airline confirmed only the inner pane of the windshield had cracked with the the two outer panes remaining unaffected. The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto the next flight.
