A United Boeing 757-200, registration N41135 performing flight UA-122 from Washington Dulles,DC (USA) to London Heathrow,EN (UK), was enroute at FL370 about 75nm south of Halifax,NS (Canada) when the crew observed high vibrations from the right hand engine (RB211), reduced the engine to idle and decided to divert to Bangor,ME (USA), where the aircraft landed safely about 45 minutes later.

The remainder of the flight was cancelled.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance found a number of platform seals out of place, reseated about 20 seals and performed satisfactory engine runs. The aircraft was subsequently ferried to a maintenance base to complete blade lubing and trim balance.
