A Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N692DL performing flight DL-2267 from San Diego,CA to Atlanta,GA (USA) with 179 passengers, was climbing out of San Diego when the crew stopped the climb at FL260 and decided to divert to Phoenix,AZ following the shut down of the right hand engine (PW2037). The aircraft landed safely on Phoenix's runway 26 about 40 minutes later.

The FAA reported a mechanical issue prompted the diversion.

The airline said the diversion was precautionary.
