A British Airways Boeing 747-400, registration G-BNLR performing flight BA-85 from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Vancouver,BC (Canada) with 358 people on board, was on approach to Vancouver when the crew reported problems with the flaps requesting emergency services on stand by and a 20nm final. The aircraft levelled off at 7000 feet temporarily. The crew subsequently advised of normal operation and landed safely on runway 26R about 12 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported other aircraft on approach were assigned to other runways.
