A Republic Airlines Embraer ERJ-170 on behalf of American Airlines, registration N407YX performing flight YX-4332/AA-4332 from New Orleans,LA to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA), had landed on O'Hare's runway 27L but went off the runway with its nose gear while attempting to turn off the runway. Tower needed to instruct several aircraft to go around as result with many simultaneous and illegible transmissions as result. There were no injuries and minor damage only.

The FAA reported the aircraft went off the runway while taxiing, there was minor damage. The aircraft came to a stop with the nose gear on grass, the passengers disembarked via mobile stairs and were bussed to the terminal.

All tower frequencies stopped departing traffic, sent arriving aircraft into instant holding patterns at their present positions advising arriving traffic to expect one full round before resuming the approaches. After emergency services had reached the Embraer about 5 minutes later traffic began to resume on other runways with arriving traffic taking priority over departures, departures were advised to expect delays due to the disabled aircraft on runway 27L.
