A Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N612DL performing flight DL-319 from Tucson,AZ to Atlanta,GA (USA), was enroute at FL390 about 130nm west of Dallas,TX (USA) when the crew needed to shut the left hand engine (PW2037) down. The aircraft diverted to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX for a safe landing on runway 17R about 25 minutes later.

A passenger reported the captain announced in flight that the left hand engine had developed some malfunction. After landing the captain announced the engine had been shut down.
