A Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300, registration 9V-SWA performing flight SQ-494 from Singapore (Singapore) to Dubai (United Arab Emirates), was climbing out of Singapore's runway 02C when the crew stopped the climb at FL120 reporting problems with the cabin pressure, descended the aircraft to 10,000 feet and entered a hold to dump fuel. The aircraft returned to Singapore for a safe landing on runway 02L about one hour after departure.

A replacement Boeing 777-300 registration 9V-SWH reached Dubai with a delay of 4 hours.

A passenger reported the passenger oxygen masks were released while climbing out of Singapore.
