Passengers reported the crew reported a minor problem prompting them to divert to Frankfurt. They felt the aircraft was shaky, climbing, descending and turning a lot for a long time prior to the emergency landing. The landing appeared faster than other normal landings. Maintenance attempted to get the aircraft repaired for about one hour focussing their attention onto the left hand wing just outboard the engine, then it was decided crew and passengers would move to another aircraft. Ground staff told them, that the aircraft had suffered some problem with the flaps. In a private talk the captain told another passenger that a lamp had illuminated indicating a problem with the flaps, this passenger then translated the news for the others.
The airline reported a faulty flaps sensor prompted a precautionary diversion to Frankfurt Hahn. The passengers were switched to a replacement aircraft.
A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration EI-DCM reached Stockholm with a delay of 2.5 hours.
