An Air Canada Airbus A319-100, registration C-FYJI performing flight AC-146 from Calgary,AB to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 124 people on board, was climbing through FL210 about 70nm east of Calgary when multiple electrical system failures occurred on two occasions. The crew declared PAN and returned to Calgary for a safe overweight landing on runway 34 about 35 minutes after departure.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance replaced the #1 generator control unit and carried out ground runs including testing of AC Essential Generator switching, Eletrical Power Integrity and integrated drive generator loading. The aircraft was returned to service without further recurrence since.
