A Lufthansa Airbus A321-200, registration D-AIDO performing flight LH-235 from Rome Fiumicino (Italy) to Frankfurt/Main (Germany), was climbing out of Rome's runway 16R when the crew encountered an unsafe indication following gear retraction. After trying to resolve the problem the crew stopped the climb at FL170 and returned to Rome for a safe landing on runway 16L about 25 minutes after departure (and about 5 hours before the mishap of Alitalia, see Accident: Alitalia A320 at Rome on Sep 29th 2013, right main gear did not extend).

The flight was cancelled.
