An Avianca Brazil Airbus A318-100, registration PR-ONI performing flight O6-6123 from Porto Alegre,RS to Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP (Brazil), was climbing out of Porto Alegre's runway 11 when the crew stopped the climb at 6000 feet reporting the failure of the green hydraulics system. The aircraft burned off fuel, the crew reported a dual hydraulic failure of green and yellow systems and returned to Porto Alegre for a safe landing on runway 11 about 40 minutes after departure. The aircraft was towed to the apron.

The airline did not comment.

The airport confirmed a mechanical malfunction of the aircraft prompted the return.

Passengers reported they were instructed to take off shoes, accessories and sharp objects, then were instructed to assume brace positions for landing.
