A United Airbus A320-200, registration N408UA performing flight UA-375 from Newark,NJ to Seattle,WA (USA), was climbing out of Newark when the crew stopped the climb at 11,000 feet and decided to return to Newark for a safe landing about 20 minutes after departure.

A passenger reported that there were no sounds of gear retraction at all after the aircraft rotated, the flaps were retracted late. The aircraft returned to Newark for a safe landing with emergency services attending the aircraft and obviously checking gear and brakes, then the aircraft taxied to the gate.

A replacement A320-200 registration N449UA is estimated to depart Newark with a delay of 75 minutes.
