An Atlasjet Airbus A320-200, registration TC-ATM performing flight KK-45 from Bodrum to Istanbul (Turkey) with 128 passengers, ingested a bird into the left hand engines (V2527) during departure from Bodrum. The crew shut the engine down and decided to divert to Izmir (Turkey), about 66nm north of Bodrum, for a safe landing on runway 34R about 20 minutes after departure from Bodrum.

Passengers reported a loud bang was heard and streaks of flames were seen from the left hand engine during departure from Bodrum.

The airline reported the engine ingested a bird during departure from Bodrum prompting the crew to divert to Izmir.

The incident aircraft remained on the ground in Izmir for 50 hours, then positioned to Istanbul and resumed service the following day on Sep 2nd.
