A Delta Airlines Boeing 767-400, registration N827MH performing flight DL-120 from Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP (Brazil) to New York JFK,NY (USA), was enroute at FL340 near the Bahamas when the captain suffered symptoms of a heart attack and aware of his condition made the decision for his crew to divert to Miami,FL (USA). On approach to Miami the crew described the condition of the person with the medical emergency as "stable and requesting emergency services to meet the aircraft at the gate". The aircraft landed safely on runway 08R about 40 minutes later. The captain was taken to a hospital.

The aircraft was able to continue with a replacement crew after 5 hours on the ground and reached New York with a delay of 5:15 hours.
