A Lufthansa Airbus A319-100, registration D-AILU performing flight LH-277 from Milan Linate (Italy) to Frankfurt/Main (Germany), was climbing out of Linate's runway 36 when the crew stopped the climb at 6000 feet reporting engine (CFM56) trouble and diverted to Milan's Malpensa Airport for a safe landing.

Passengers joked they never had such a short ride reporting the crew told them about engine trouble.

The flight was cancelled.

The incident aircraft remained on the ground until Aug 15th, then ferried to Frankfurt and resumed service on Aug 17th.
