A Delta Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-88, registration N964DL performing flight DL-1455 from Grand Rapids,MI to Atlanta,GA (USA), was enroute at FL360 about 75nm north of Nashville,TN when the crew reported they suspected a fuel leak on the right hand wing and decided to divert to Nashville advising they would vacate the runway and shut down both engines immediately after vacating the runway, emergency services were required to check for the fuel leak. The aircraft landed safely on Nashville's runway 02R about 20 minutes later, vacated the runway and stopped.

A replacement MD-88 reached Atlanta with a delay of 3 hours.

The incident aircraft was able to resume service the following morning and departed Nashville as flight DL-2308 to Atlanta.
