A United Boeing 747-400, registration N197UA performing flight UA-863 from San Francisco,CA (USA) to Sydney,NS (Australia) with 348 passengers and 18 crew, was climbing out of San Francisco when the crew stopped the climb at FL220 and entered a hold reporting that they had extremely high vibration indications on the #4 engine (PW4056) during the initial climb, the engine was still running at low thrust. The aircraft dumped fuel while holding at FL220 and returned to San Francisco for a safe landing on runway 28L about 90 minutes after departure.
