A Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N633DL performing flight DL-2206 from Atlanta,GA to Norfolk,VA (USA) with 173 passengers and 6 crew, was climbing out of Atlanta when the aircraft suffered a bird strike shortly after takeoff. The crew continued the climb at first, stopped the climb at FL230 and returned to Atlanta for a safe landing about 70 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 757-200 reached Norfolk with a delay of 5 hours.

The airline reported the crew returned to Atlanta out of abundance of caution after encountering birds on departure from Atlanta.
