A Porter Airlines de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration C-GLQZ performing flight PD-687 from Toronto City,ON to Sault Ste. Marie,ON (Canada) with 54 people on board, was enroute at FL240 about half way into the flight when the crew received a "#1 HYD ISO VLV and Roll SPLR" indication. While the relevant checklists were carried out the hydraulic quantity indication began to drop. The crew turned around, declared emergency and diverted to Toronto Pearson International for a safe landing on runway 05 about 35 minutes later and stopped on the runway using emergency brakes.

The Canadian TSB reported the crew brought the aircraft to a stop vy varying the brake pressure with emergency brake handle movement. Emergency services checked the aircraft and cleared it to continue to the gate, the crew taxied the aircraft to the gate again controlling the brakes by emergency handle movements as required. Maintenance found the pressure port adapter on the #1 hydraulic system's pressure manifold loose, an O-ring between adapter and manifold was damaged. The O-ring was replaced, the system replenished and the engine driven pump serviced according to the maintenance manual for the pump operating with hydraulic fluid loss.
